Bloomfield, located in Hartford County, is a bedroom community of about 20,000 people. It has an area of 26 square miles, giving it a population density of 792 people per square mile.  It is extremely diverse, with various ethnic groups making up more than 50% of the population. Bloomfield has three elementary schools, one middle school, and three high schools, as well as a CREC sponsored inter-district school called the Metropolitan Learning Center.

Bloomfield contains many beautiful vistas, including part of the Metacomet Ridge, and the 51 mile long Metacomet Trail. This trail is frequented by nature enthusiasts, who come here to enjoy is ecological beauty, as well as its historical sites. The trail twists through sections of Connecticut and Massachusetts, though the Metacomet Ridge itself extends from Southwestern Connecticut, all the way to the borders of New Hampshire and Vermont.  Interestingly enough, Bloomfield is home to the largest non-denominational church in New England, the First Cathedral Church. The church was founded in 1968, and soon grew to accommodate apartment buildings, a bookstore, and a school called First Academy. This church can be deemed a source of much pride in Bloomfield, as it has gone on to aid needy people in many countries, including Peru, Kenya and Bangladesh.

Suburban Bloomfield has much to offer in the way of convenience and entertainment. Hartford is a 15 minute drive away, and Springfield is certainly within commuting distance also.  It is equidistant to the popular shopping hubs of Buckland Hills and West Farms Mall, and is home to some great dining. There is plenty of hiking and trailing as Talcott Mountain is right around the corner!
