Ellington Airport

Stay Connected in Ellington via the Ellington Airport

Transportation forms the backbone of any region. In fact, it is a very crucial aspect that you cannot afford to ignore if you are thinking of buying a new house in a new place. It always pays to do some groundwork before you settle in a new neighborhood.

The residents of Ellington are very fortunate because the bucolic town in Tolland County offers a harmonious mix of the countryside and the benefits of a suburban lifestyle.

In terms of air connectivity, the quaint town of Ellington provides three options; namely Ellington Airport, Skylark Airpark and the Bradley International Airport.

Although Ellington Airport is a privately-owned and -operated airport located in Ellington, Connecticut; Ellington Airport is also a General aviation airport located on Route 83, adjacent to the town's Industrial Park.

Ellington Airport owned by the city of Lewisburg and managed by the Derryberry family operates not just a Flight training school but also a helicopter school. The 5,000 foot runway at Ellington Airport (LUG) serves Lewisburg, TN and the adjoining areas.

Ellington Airport is one of the two Connecticut airports certified by the state as a parachute jump zone with Connecticut Parachutists Inc. having its home base at the airport.

Ellington Airport which is open to the public is particularly known for its weekend recreational activity and the competitive sport of skydiving.

The town's other airport, Skylark Airpark (FAA LID: 7B6) located two miles east of the central business district in Warehouse Point is a general aviation airport situated in East Windsor, a neighboring town of Ellington.

Bradley International Airport (IATA: BDL, ICAO: KBDL, FAA LID: BDL), a public airport is located approximately ten miles West of town in Windsor Locks on the border with East Granby and Suffield, about halfway between Hartford and Springfield and is Connecticut's chief commercial airport.

Owned by the State of Connecticut, the Bradley International Airport is Connecticut's busiest commercial airport with 350 daily operations. After Boston's Logan International Airport, it is also the second-busiest airport in New England with Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and US Airways being its three largest carriers.

Famous as the "Gateway to New England"; in 2008, Bradley notched the 55th rank in terms of being the busiest airport in the United States by number of passengers emplaned. It is also home to the New England Air Museum.

With numerous other educational and recreational facilities in vicinity, undoubtedly Ellington is the ultimate destination that anyone with a family would choose to settle in.
